The family of Ruby Garcia described Trump's remarks regarding her murder as "shocking."

During a rally on Tuesday, Mr. Trump emphasized his strong views on immigration and crime by citing the alleged death of Ruby Garcia, 25, at the hands of an unauthorized immigrant.

"She lit up that room, and I've heard that from so many people," Trump remarked. "I spoke to some of her family."

However, according to Ms. Garcia's sister, they never spoke with Mr. Trump or his campaign.

In an interview with the local news network Target 8, she stated, "He did not speak with us, so it was kind of shocking seeing that he had said that he spoke with us, and misinforming people on live TV." "The focus should be on my sister right now, who she was in life."

Ruby Garcia was discovered shot dead on a roadway close to Grand Rapids, Michigan, on March 22, according to the authorities.

The victim's boyfriend, Brandon Ortiz-Vite, a Mexican national living in the US illegally, was detained a few days later and reportedly confessed. Subsequently, the authorities revealed that he was brought into the nation as a minor and had been expelled in September 2020, during Mr. Trump's presidency.

Using the death as justification, Mr. Trump called President Joe Biden's "border bloodbath" in his Grand Rapids speech.

Regarding immigration, where do Biden and Trump diverge?

Mavi Garcia stated that although she wishes Mr. Ortiz-Vite had "stayed in Mexico," she does not believe immigration played a role in her sister's passing.

"It's always been about illegal immigrants," she stated. Nobody truly discusses the horrible atrocities committed by Americans, thus it's surprising that he would only bring up illegal immigrants. What about the horrible acts committed by Americans?

The Trump campaign has been approached by the BBC for a statement.

During Mr. Trump's rallies and campaign speeches, border security, immigration, and the belief that it is linked to violent crime are frequently discussed issues that are not backed by statistics.

He called undocumented immigrants "animals" and "not humans" on Tuesday, for instance.

According to polls, many voters in the United States are very concerned about immigration, especially along the border.

Approximately 61% of Americans cited illegal immigration as a "very serious problem" in a recent Monmouth study, and most of them for the first time expressed support for Mr. Trump's plan to build a wall along the US-Mexico border.
