Just in time for a significant shift in Amazon Fresh's shopping philosophy, the Jersey Shore will soon have its own grocery store. Amazon Fresh is situated in Seattle.

The launch date of Amazon Fresh's new store on Route 35 in Eatontown has not been disclosed, but the company has placed job advertising promising potential employees $16 per hour.

Earlier this week, Amazon Fresh announced that it will be replacing "Just Walk Out" with Amazon Dash Cart. With this new service, customers will no longer receive receipts for payment based on items removed from shelves after leaving grocery shops.

According to Amazon Fresh, the latter service allows consumers to avoid checkout lines by utilizing a combination of computer vision and sensor fusion to help identify items placed in a cart. It is already available at some of the company's more than 40 Amazon Fresh locations in the United States. After choosing an item, customers scan it with an Amazon Dash Cart camera and add it to their cart.

We’ve invested a lot of time redesigning a number of our Amazon Fresh stores over the last year, offering a better overall shopping experience with more value, convenience, and selection — and so far we’ve seen positive results, with higher customer shopping satisfaction scores and increased purchasing,” Kornfeld said.

“We’ve also heard from customers that while they enjoyed the benefit of skipping the checkout line with Just Walk Out, they also wanted the ability to easily find nearby products and deals, view their receipt as they shop, and know how much money they saved while shopping throughout the store. To deliver even more convenience to our customers, we’re rolling out Amazon Dash Cart, our smart-shopping carts, which allows customers all these benefits including skipping the checkout line,” Kornfeld said.

She stated that the change will occur over the course of the upcoming few months.

The concept of Just Walk Out is not going anywhere. According to the firm, it will continue to be used by a few independent retailers, including those at convention centers and sports stadiums, as well as Amazon Go stores.

The Eatontown location of Amazon Fresh will be the company's second location in New Jersey.

In July 2022, it inaugurated a 40,000-square-foot store in Paramus, which was once a Fairway Market.
